The Nature of Things presents Polar Bears: A Summer Odyssey a blue chip
wildlife documentary that reveals the white bear as you have never seen them
before. .

This is the story of an adorable and curious ‘teenage’ bear’s epic migration
through the icy waters of WesternHudson Bay and his struggles on land during
his first summer alone without his mother.

His struggle to survive is set against the biggest environmental story of our time:
climate change.

It’s one of the hottest summers on record. He’s a white bear suffering in a green
world. A polar bear’s curiosity, memories and intelligence are his only defense
against a world changing faster than he can.

As the ice-free season grows longer, so does the time the bears spend on land.
With little or no food, hordes of biting insects, and intense pressure from other
bears – it’s unbearable!

Watch the desperate acts of a bear pushed to the brink. Witness the wisdom
and commitment of a protective mother bear. Observe the seemingly ferocious
social rituals of massive male bears. Polar Bears: A Summer Odyssey features
breath-taking cinematography shot over twelve months, capturing intimate
glimpses of rarely seen bear behavior.

Directed by Adam Ravetch and Sarah Robertson & produced by Halifax’s
Arcadia Content, in association with CBC’s Science and Natural History
